About Apoteket Omstrukturering AB

Apoteket Omstrukturering AB (OAB) manages the restructuring of Apoteket AB by being responsible for planning, preparation and implementation of the process of selling pharmacies. OAB, which will be the parent company for Apoteket during this process, is a State-owned company under the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs.

OAB will ensure that the restructuring process takes place in a way that creates the necessary conditions for effective competition in a re-regulated pharmacy market.

OAB will also ensure the successful transfer of Apoteket AB’s valuable infrastructure and service functions as well as information databases to Apotekens Service AB, so that these services will also be available for new pharmacy owners.

Mission and operations

Apoteket Omstrukturering AB (OAB) has been formed to manage and oversee the processes necessary to restructure Apoteket AB in preparation for the re-regulation of the Swedish pharmacy market proposed by the Government.

OAB will manage the process of selling pharmacies with the aim of creating the necessary conditions for effective competition in a re-regulated pharmacy market. OAB will at the same time ensure that some of Apoteket’s infrastructure and service functions are preserved and made available to society and new players after the market has been re-regulated. These functions will be transferred to a newly formed company, Apotekens Service AB.

OAB will be the parent company for Apoteket AB during the re-regulation period and it will subsequently cease to exist.
